Wikileaks Movie Profile -- Megan Ellison -- "The Indie Savior" Backs Wikileaks, Terminator and Osama Bin Laden Movie?

It is very timely to publish this Wikileaks movie profile on Megan Ellison, who is backing a Wikileaks Movie project, is rumored involved in the Osama Bin Laden Movie, and has just landed the rights to make the next Terminator Movie starring Arnold Schwarzenegger.

Ellison, the founder of Annapurna Pictures is key player associated with writer Mark Boal and one of the Wikileaks Movie efforts. She is a formidable supporter and backer of important movie and film projects and is becoming respected as “The Indie Savior.” As such we feel it is important you get to know a bit about her background, work and current projects.

As noted previously at Ellison has teamed with screenwriter Mark Boal (The Hurt Locker) and Management 360 to option the article The Boy Who Kicked the Hornet’s Nest by Bill Keller from the New York Times. Details are still scarce on this project. At the same time Ellison is also rumored to be involved in an Osama Bin Laden Movie, a project which Mark Boal is also working on in collaboration with Kathryn Bigelow. And more recently she has won the rights to produce the next movie in the Terminator series. Terminator, the Osama Bin Laden Movie and The Wikileaks Movie??? With these movies and others in her portfolio she is no doubt a force to be reckoned with.

Ellison stands triumphant after a feverish bidding war with Lionsgate for the rights to make “Terminator 5,” or whatever they end up calling it, reported Deadline. As part of the package, she gets the original Terminator–Arnold Schwarzenegger–and Justin Lin, director of the best action film of 2011, “Fast Five.”

Megan Ellison, the daughter of software, technology and sporting pioneer Larry Ellison, joins an already crowded arena of industry players rumored to be involved with a Wikileaks movie. But given her grit (she was actually a backer of True Grit, see below], tolerance for risk,  and nose for stories with great potential we feel that a Wikileaks movie in collaboration with Boal and Management 360 has excellent prospects for success.

Despite being an heiress with a connection to a well-known name,  Megan Ellison has not taken the easy route into the movie business. She started in a modest way. Her first job was as a boom operator on the 2005 short “When All Else Fails.” Ellison has been busy as a producer over the past few years with credits including Waking Madison, an intense drama focusing on mental illness and suicide starring Elisabeth Shue and True Grit, the hit remake of the John Wayne classic with Jeff Bridges and Matt Damon. Ellison’s latest projects include a prohibition-era drama with Shia LaBeouf and Tom Hardy and a mob-related drama with Brad Pitt and Ray Liotta. And of course there are the Wikileaks Movie, the Osama Bin Laden Movie and most recently the next Terminator Movie.

Wikileaks Movie Backer Megan Ellison (True Grit Trailer)

The Wikileaks movie will likely spark interest along with controversy, but Ellison does not shy away from hot button issues. Another project in the works with an Ellison connection is a Scientology drama called The Master, originally pulled last year by Universal. Oscar-winner Philip Seymour Hoffman is the only confirmed star so far. There are many rumors flying around, however no actors are attached to any of the Wikileaks projects yet, but it is likely that some top Hollywood names will be involved.
