"I still believe in global warming. Do you?" asks Ted Kaczynski in now pulled billboard.
The Seventh International Conference on Climate Change have already pulled their billboards in Chicago, less than 24 hours after they went up. The billboards showed Ted Kaczynski, the infamous Unabomber, Charles Manson, a mass murderer, Fidel Castro and other global warming alarmists including Osama bin Laden and James J. Lee, linking belief in global warming to being a mass-murdering certified psycho-nutter. Beacuse you know, those things are totally the same.
"I still believe in global warming. Do you?" was the line with the billboard sponsored by the Heartland Institute, a libertarian organization based in Chicago that describes its chief mission as promoting free-market solutions to social and economic problems.
So Why did Heartland choose to feature these people on its billboards?
Because what these murderers and madmen have said differs very little from what spokespersons for the United Nations, journalists for the “mainstream” media, and liberal politicians say about global warming. They are so similar, in fact, that a Web site has a quiz that asks if you can tell the difference between what Ted Kaczynski, the Unabomber, wrote in his “Manifesto” and what Al Gore wrote in his book, Earth in the Balance.
The point is that believing in global warming is not “mainstream,” smart, or sophisticated. In fact, it is just the opposite of those things. Still believing in man-made global warming – after all the scientific discoveries and revelations that point against this theory – is more than a little nutty. In fact, some really crazy people use it to justify immoral and frightening behavior.
So that's our "banned" ad of the week, though it's not banned, it's been pulled after it drew criticism from some global warming skeptics as well as mainstream climate scientists.

This is a stupid billboard for several reasons. People who don't believe in global warming have better supports for their viewpoint than simple scapegoating of the "climate alarmists" by negative association. The Heartland Institute has a plethora of academic arguments and studies they could cite. Secondly, being amoral does not preclude being scientifically intelligent. The false logic of: crazy killer believes in theory = theory is wrong is simply childish.
This is just a lack of creativity. Not to mention that Ted Kaczynski's name has been out of the news for fifteen years (last bombing in 1995). Seek relevancy.
Hear hear.
Dear Emily,
Nowadays scientists have a bit different view on this case than 40 years ago. Please take a look for "Mystery of clouds" made by scandinavian scientists.
Earth climate is not connected just with our human history. It is connected with planets in the solar system, the Sun and even with our galaxy.
If you're familiar with double slit experiment you'll know that observing this phenomenon to short lead us to wrong conclusion or no conclusion at all.
In the last centuary scientists didn't have enough historical data to form correct conclusion. Today we know better an it's not a shame that we're changing our opinions. It's a shame when we don't.
Sorry for my english - in time I'll improve :).
