Marvel made a fake TV news channel to promote 'Ant-Man'
Not content with just conquering the world of Hollywood fiction, Marvel Studios now has its own fake news channel.
WHIH launched last week with a teaser from Christine Everhart, a journalist whom fans will recognize from the Iron Man franchise. She first appeared as a Vanity Fair columnist writing a profile on Tony Stark, but has since moved on to TV work—still covering the superhero beat, it seems.
Everhart's first full report is a viral video promoting Ant-Man, describing Scott Lang (Paul Rudd) as a cyber criminal and "self-proclaimed whistleblower." He was convicted of stealing from the fictional tech company VistaCorp and funneling the money back to its customers. The upcoming movie will see him finish his prison sentence and become Ant-Man, with help from Hank Pym (Michael Douglas), the inventor of the Ant-Man suit. This WHIH report comes complete with a fake article on Mashable, no doubt confusing at least one or two people who now think Scott Lang is a real person who looks oddly similar to Paul Rudd.
